Babar Azam professionally stepped into national cricket in 2010. From 2010–2011, Babar was on the domestic Zarai Taraqiati Bank cricket team and rejoined in 2013–2014.
In the domestic cricket team, Babar Azam joined the Islamabad Leopards’ domestic cricket team from 2012 to 2015. Babar played for the State Bank of Pakistan from 2014 to 2015.
From 2015 to 2018, Babar joined the cricket team of Sui Southern Gas Corporation. Babar Azam played for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) team Islamabad United in 2016. Babar shifted to the Karachi Kings team in 2017 and played for the same team until 2022.
